Our Goal, Helping You Manage Fibro
ABOUT US
Our Mission
Fibromyalgia Association is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1997 to offer resources and support to individuals living with fibromyalgia. We recently dropped "of Michigan" from our name as we have members from across the United States, and international event guests. We provide a monthly Support & Education Group, educational programs, conferences, and a newsletter. Our aim is to empower individuals with fibromyalgia to manage their condition and create a sense of community. We are driven to do our part in making the world a better place. We strive to learn and share the most current understandings of fibromyalgia. Additionally, we aim to make a positive impact with all of our pursuits. If you are wanting to learn to manage fibromyalgia or need to talk to people who understand the fibro life, we are here for you.
WHAT WE DO
Support & Education Group
We Are Here For You
Learn how to take control of your fibromyalgia at our positive and informational group. The group meets on Zoom. It's original location was Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, Michigan. St. John Providence/Ascension has been an invaluable partner for over 23 years. Over 2000 people have attended our meetings. Physicians regularly refer their fibromyalgia patients to our group. Membership benefits include: learning the latest advances in fibromyalgia research, diagnosis and treatment; expert speakers at meetings; and spending time with other members to learn coping tips and share support. The group is led by FAM's President & Founder Sharon Waldrop, NBC-HWC, who has fibromyalgia and she is a Board Certified Pain Management Health & Wellness Coach & Lifestyle Medicine Coach. While this new site is being developed, please visit our original site famichigan.org for Support Group details and membership..
Fibromyalgia Awareness Day

The Association began Awareness Day in 2001 to give people in Michigan the opportunity to meet experts from across the country. Now the conferences are available online to give people the opportunity to join the event from anywhere.
Advocacy
Be a Part of Something Bigger
Being a patient is complicated. Treatment guidelines, services, research, insurance, legal policies and more are enacted without the voice of the patient. Join our advocacy alerts to find out how you can add your voice to issues that are/will affect you. You can participate as much or as little as you would like. Together we can create a better tomorrow! Email us for details.
